How to use your own router

How to setup using your own router on Connect Fibre's broadband service

We recommend you use the router we supply as you'll get the best out of your connection that way!

If you are keen to use a third-party router, we can only offer limited support. This is because we're experts in our routers and it would be impossible for us to be experts in every router out there.

We'd recommend speaking to the manufacturer of that router as they'd be the experts in that router's configuration so you'll feel confident with setting it up with their support.

We're an independent ISP (Internet Service Provider) and our network configuration may be a little different so you may need to tweak settings if you've been using this router with your previous provider.

To manually enter your connection settings for your third-party device, visit your router's manufacturer's website, or check the manual!

How to configure your router for Connect Fibre's network

The important settings you'll need from us:

Setting Value Explanation
VLAN ID 101 Essentially VLAN 101 is a way to specify which virtual network your router should use to reach the outside world.
Authentication DHCP Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation (CG-NAT) networks use DHCP to manage IP Addresses.

While it is technically possible for our customers to use third-party routers, this is unsupported by Connect Fibre. We accept no liability for any potential damage or loss to equipment or content.
