How do I fix my broadband connection issues?

A guide on troubleshooting common broadband issues.

Here are some simple tips to help your broadband run smoother:

  1. Router placement: When we install your system, chat with your engineer about the best spot for your router based on where you use your devices.

  2. Keep it clear: Avoid placing your router behind large electrical devices like TVs or fridges, as they can interfere with the signal.

  3. Avoid water: Keep your router away from water sources, such as fish tanks or water boilers.

  4. Consider a mesh device: If you need more coverage throughout your home, a mesh system might be the solution.

  5. One device or multiple?: If it’s just one device with a problem, the issue could be with the device itself, not the Wi-Fi.

  6. One website or all of them?: If it’s just one website, the issue might be with that site, not your Wi-Fi.

  7. Check for outages: Is there a Connect Fibre outage? You can check here for any updates.

  8. Check your connections: Make sure all cables are securely plugged into your router and ONT (the box on the wall).

  9. Reboot your network: Turn off both the router and ONT, wait for 15 minutes, then first turn on the ONT, wait for 5 minutes, and then turn on the router. This often solves most issues.

  10. Check the lights: Make sure your ONT and router are showing the correct lights to indicate everything is working.
