The Government has recognised the need for subsidies to provide modern reliable fibre in rural areas which are otherwise uneconomic to serve (the Project Gigabit programme). In some cases, we may look to install our own infrastructure to connect homes not served by publicly accessible infrastructure. This infrastructure is typically wooden telegraph poles or underground ducting.
On occasion, our routes may cross private land. We aim to avoid this by using public roads and pathways but, when geographical challenges arise, we may seek permission from private landowners to install our infrastructure on their land. This enables us to serve both their premises and their immediate neighbours who may form part of our fibre network.
We are not permitted to make wayleave payments to private landowners. In recognition of a landowner's contribution to their community, we reserve the right to offer our service at a discounted rate for up to two years, with a value of up to £1,320 (based on our Fibre 2000 plan, at the normal price of £55 per month, as of January 2025).
