Summary

As an IT Support Technician your primary role will be to maintain access to the IT equipment and resources required by Connect Fibre’s mainly remote workforce. You will be providing a working-hours support function to help employees resolve any problems they may have at both the equipment and application level.

At a secondary level, you may also be required to support internal IT projects and initiatives. Examples might be implementing security policies and updates across the business from time to time and supporting our planned move from Google Workspace to Microsoft 354/Azure. You will also use your experience to help shape the evolving company IT/Systems organisation.

Key Accountability & Responsibility

  • Provide working-hours helpdesk point of contact to resolve internal IT and application issues
  • Conducting the IT onboarding of new starters and the IT offboarding of leavers
  • Liaising with company procurement and other functions to ensure employees have the right equipment and access for their roles
  • Systems administration of company Google and Microsoft environments (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, AzureAD, Intune)
  • Collaborate with the CTO and other internal and external functions involved in IT/Systems implementation, upgrade and migration projects

 

Knowledge & Skills

Essential Requirements:    
  • This role requires experience, enthusiasm and tenacity over formal education and qualifications
  • Minimum Secondary education to GCSE level of equivalent. Literate and numerate
  • Practical working experience with Microsoft Enterprise technologies and applications including but not limited to Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, Intune, Sharepoint etc
  • Experience supporting the IT needs of a largely remote workforce using Microsoft Intune MDM including setting and managing configuration and compliance profiles and access to company resources
  • Windows 10/11 and Powershell to advanced/expert level
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Google SSO technologies
  • Basic working knowledge of security principles as applied to enterprise networks, devices and applications

Optional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP
  • Virtualisation technologies in particular Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of Linux and shell scripting
  • Basic scripting using Powershell, Python etc.

 

Working Conditions

Location: This role is only available to candidates currently resident in the UK and with either UK citizenship or indefinite leave to remain.

Candidates will:

  • Be able to work effectively in a remote/hybrid working environment with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability and willingness to work in a fast-moving and rapidly growing organisation.
  • Be able to collaborate effectively across the organisation. Effective communication is essential.
Connect Fibre operates a hybrid working model with main emphasis on home working with occasional visits to company office locations.

Performance evaluation will be based upon:

Direct Reports

Initially this role reports directly to the CTO but will likely move under a Head of Systems in due course.
The role will work closely with all functions across the business.
