We now seek a dynamic, ambitious individual to join our Delivery Team. 

 

The Role

As a “Connector” you will play a pivotal role in our mission to provide the UK with faultless broadband at unprecedented speeds. We have a revolutionary, premium, future-proof product that is fairer, faster, and flawless for our customers and, as with all machines, we have a lot of moving parts (especially within the delivery team). We have created a Junior Solutions Engineer role to help support the team’s deliverables by using innovation and automation.

As the Junior Solutions Engineer you will serve as a frontline champion for Connect Fibre and its endless pursuit in automation and efficiency. You will be catapulted in to thought provoking scenarios that will consistently challenge your technical ability in all aspects and require you to use your inquisitive nature to problem-solve the “un-solvable”.

Although labelled a junior position, it’s a highly important role within the delivery department and directly within our innovations team, therefore we require the role holder to have an extensive and particular technical background coupled with the desire to problem solve, think outside the box and be comfortable working in a very fast-paced environment.

You will be part of a results and data driven team steering proof of concepts, business efficiency and complex problem solving.

 

As our junior solutions engineer you will be tasked with, but not limited to, some of the items below:

  • Work within a small innovations team to solve complex technical problems
  • Work on innovative solutions for backend efficiencies in process automation
  • Work on bespoke projects using languages, such as Python, Javascript, SQL, including Spatial SQL
  • Develop network and graph analysis tools
  • Utilise and integrate APIs
  • Developing tools utilising machine learning or computer vision, using libraries such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
  • Deliver results on projects outlined by the CDO

The Candidate

We are looking for a someone who has a professional approach, who will uphold the highest of standards. We require a charismatic and forward-thinking individual who can champion success and not be afraid to challenge the status quo.

  • You must have strong knowledge of Python, ideally using GeoPandas for manipulating and analysing geospatial data through advanced data structures and operations.
  • You must be experienced in crafting SQL queries for data manipulation and analysis, optimising database performance, and designing relational database schemas to support scalable applications.
  • You must have hands-on experience with software development and engineering, using automated testing and version control.
  • A desirable skill would be experience in API Development, including designing, implementing and maintaining RESTful APIs, perhaps using Python frameworks like Flask and Django, ensuring robust data exchange and integration with front-end systems and third-party services.
  • A desirable skill would be experience in containerised software development using Docker; be adept at creating, deploying, and managing applications in isolated environments to enhance scalability and consistency across development, testing, and production.
  • You must have exposure to various project management styles (Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, and hybrid frameworks).
  • You must have proven experience in data management and process optimisation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data handling and report generation, facilitating timely production of essential contractual requirements for both internal and external business needs.
  • You will be astute, confident, professional, polite, and happy to work remotely.
  • You must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • You must have a forward thinking and pro-active approach to work.
  • You must be willing to travel occasionally to our offices/sites, when requested.
  • Experience using Monday.com beneficial.
  • You must be confident in challenging colleagues in a professional way to ensure accuracy of data and to keep the programme moving forward.
  • Hold a BSc in computer science or related technical subject.
