The Role

As a “Connector” you will play a pivotal role in our mission to provide the UK with faultless broadband at unprecedented speeds. We have a revolutionary, premium, future-proof product that is fairer, faster, and flawless for our customers. As we enter our next phase of deployment, we are hiring Fibre Build Leads to join and strengthen our Delivery Build Team, supporting our Build Partners and Project Control Office in the delivery of our Full Fibre Network.  

As a Connect Fibre Build Lead, you’ll be championing the delivery of our ultra-fast builds, ensuring they are completed on time in accordance with the Task Order timelines, built to full compliance of our standard operating procedures (SOPs) and in accordance with all safety legislation for PIA/NRSWA and Connect Fibre safety principles.  

Key Responsibilities

As our Fibre Build Lead, you will be tasked with, but not limited to, some of the items below:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Build Partner, maintaining a positive relationship, and ensuring project delivery aligns with Task Order agreements.
  • Ensuring all process and governance is adhered to across the TRR and Build phases
  • Accountable for the delivery of the Projects within the Delivery Programme, delivered on time and within the full scope.
  • Supporting the BP in identifying risks and issues ahead of time and proving solutions and mitigation plans
  • Using RAID methodology to monitor all internal and external risks.
  • On site supervision of the BP, performing H&S and quality audits.
  • Ensure that all builds adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and Connect Fibres Standard Operating Procedures and policies.
  • Supporting on-site with technical issues or queries
  • Reviewing iOLM/OTDR/Power metre test results when required.
  • Supporting Network and Installation Teams on live network faults
  • Attending Joint Site Visits with other utilities and providers.  

The Candidate

We are looking for a seasoned fibre network and build expert, who will uphold the highest of standards in department and our builds. We require a charismatic and forward-thinking individual who can champion success and not be afraid to challenge the status quo.

  • Extensive knowledge of Openreach PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) for both overhead and underground fibre delivery. 
  • In depth technical knowledge of FTTP Network Build methodologies and principals, inclusive of iOLM and other testing processes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
  • Previous experience in a Fibre Engineer, Lead, or Supervisor Role.
  • Experience in working with the Highways and Local authorities to enable the delivery of your builds 
  • All modules of PIA accreditation (in date) 
  • Street works (NRWSA) tickets

(Connect Fibre operates a hybrid working model with main emphasis on home working for office staff, with occasional visits to company office locations. This Fibre Build role is field based and requires employees to be on site 4 days a week. Candidates must be a UK resident with citizenship or indefinite leave to remain and are required to undertake a basic DBS check.)
